One thing he mentioned stood out in a big way. In Lipitor’s own insert it states as clear as day that the drug DOES NOT REDUCE ALL-CAUSE MORTALITY.
In other words, fewer people may die from heart problems (cardiovascular death) but more people will die from other causes. Am I the only one who thinks it’s insane to put a drug like this on the market, let alone prescribe it to a hefty percentage of the adult population? It seems I am, since data shows that Lipitor is now the second best-selling drug in the world, according to www.drugs.com with sales of over 5 billion dollars - and that’s only one type of statin.
Sigh.

interesting. now, as i am taking it, what am i supposed to do?
Oh this was one of the drugs given to my father when he was in the hospital, even though he didn't need it. It was just standard procedure whenever they are treating heart patients. He eventually refused the drug and he's doing very well...but it really is a personal choice that has to be made. They were also giving him medications to treat high blood pressure..again, he didn't have that problem either and he refused to take them. When he did, his blood pressure improved. It's a hard decision to make...but my family (including myself) are definitely not fans of that medication. Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
My heart grows just a little bit sadder each day that people do not read the labels - drugs, food, and otherwise. It could lead to so many health improvements if they did.
Even before my pre-food days I would read the prescribed meds to see the side-effects etc. It drives my RN hubby crazy. He tells me -- no one has to worry about those things. Well, I did. Because if there was a side-effect (and they all have them), I usually got it!
I'm going to send the link to your post to my naturopath. This is really good ;) :) Love and hugs from the ocean shores of California, Heather :)
